There's no doubt that fracking is driving California backwards. Now you have a chance to let a key state agency know it's time for a fracking moratorium.
Join Sierra Club California, Center for Biological Diversity, Credo, Clean Water Action, 350.Org and other organizations for a rally to call for a fracking moratorium. The rally will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Oakland Convention Center, 550 10th Street, in Oakland. RSVP here.
The rally will occur at the first of a series of statewide Environmental Impact Report (EIR) scoping hearings to determine what environmental impacts will be considered when it comes to fracking and well stimulation. The hearing itself will be conducted by the California Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Help us raise our voices at the rally - including through song - in favor of a statewide moratorium on fracking. Then join the crowd inside to urge state regulators that a fracking moratorium needs to be included among the alternatives analyzed in the state's EIR.
Wear your Sierra Club gear and show the people of California and Governor Brown's administration that, when it comes to protecting our communities and our environment, the Sierra Club shows up, stands up and speaks up!
If you can't come to Oakland, click here to see a list of other EIR hearings around the state later this month.
