Progress for Orcas at SeaWorld! No Breeding Allowed in SeaWorld's 'Blue World' Project

The California Coastal Commission voted to approve SeaWorld's plan for a new orca prison, but only after a commissioner proposed a key amendment: no more breeding. This significant change will ultimately end captivity for long-suffering orcas in California if SeaWorld moves forward with its Blue World Project. The commission received more than 120,000 e-mails and letters from concerned PETA supporters like you, and hundreds of protesters, including actor Pamela Anderson, turned out at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center yesterday to speak out. Read more about what this will mean for orcas in captivity, and share the good news!

35 Things That Aren't Happening Today Because of PETA

35 Years of Changing History
As PETA celebrates its 35th anniversary and reflects on its monumental victories for animals, it's hard to believe that the group began with just two people working in a spare room. These victories—your victories—have helped save lives and prevented animals from becoming fur for Calvin Klein and more than 900 other companies, from being used as car-crash test dummies, and from being shipped by airlines to labs around the world. Help win even morevictories by taking action at our online action center.

Urge Ride-Hailing Service Uber to Drop Leather Requirement

Car with Leather Interior
Cows used for their skin are subjected to branding, dehorning, and tail-docking—without the use of any pain relief. At the end of their miserable lives, they're stunned, hung up, bled to death, and skinned. High-end vegan leather is already being used by luxury automakers BMW, Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, and others. Help cows by urging Uber to eliminate its requirement for leather seats in Uber BLACK vehicles.

Come One, Come None! Ringling Is Downsizing

Sad Elephants at RinglingWhen The Circus Comes To Town | Doug Anderson | CC by 2.0
Ringling Bros. has quietly announced that its Gold Unit has folded and that it will not bring its shows back to the Pacific Northwest for at least a couple of years. Ringling is already succumbing to public pressure by agreeing to get the elephants out of its shows by 2018, and this is now further proof that today's public is turning its back on businesses that exploit animals. However, Ringling still plans to exploit elephants for its shows for nearly three more years and to use big cats, horses, and other animals indefinitely. They need YOU to share the news with everyone you know so that your friends can speak up, too!
