Will the New Dietary Guidelines Make School Food Healthier?
Last week, the Obama administration announced the much-anticipated set of new dietary guidelines, urging Americans to cut down on sugar and singling out men and boys for eating too much meat.
The nutritional advice, updated by the federal government every five years, is supposed to have enormous influence on the foods served to millions through federal food programs—including school breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.
Sounds like the cafeteria is about to get healthier, right? Well, not exactly.
