JOEL CASTRO'S NEW FRIEND, MANG ZALDY

This is mang Zaldy...days ago, me and my wife were in Mambucal mountain resort where I meet this new friend.Out of pity after some conversation, I tipped him a thousand pesos... don't get me wrong....this guy has been working as a tourist guide for around forty years...no fixed Salary....just depends on the tips from some generous guests shelling off. A small thin man, working hard, guiding guests to the unthinkable terraces all the way from the 1st to the 7th waterfalls. And you've seen in this photo: I gave him food for lunch , but after he's through, I asked him: why did you only took the rice and the sinigang soup? Why did you left the meat, srimps and others in that plate? His answer: I'm going to wrap them for my wife at home. I felt so ashamed of myself that very moment....I took all the food that I ordered and gave them to mang Zaldy. Moral lesson: Stop complaining. Most of us are thousand times fortunate than the rests.
