The Supreme Court (SC) did not issue on Tuesday, May 19, a restraining order that could have allowed media network ABS-CBN Corporation to resume its nationwide radio and television broadcast.

Hours after the issuance of the CDO, ABS-CBN halted its radio and television broadcast.
During its online full court session, the SC – in a unanimous vote of 14 incumbent justices — ordered the NTC to comment in 10 calendar days on ABS-CBN’s petition against the CDO.
It also ordered that the Senate and the House of Representatives be impleaded in the petition and both Houses of Congress were also directed to file their comments in 10 calendar days.
It was not known immediately if ABS-CBN’s plea for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the NTC’s CDO would be tackled anew once the comments are filed.
The SC also denied the plea of lawyer Lorenzo Gadon to consolidate the ABS-CBN case with his own petition that wanted the SC to stop the NTC from issuing to the television firm a provisional authority to operate after the expiration of the 25-year franchise.
