Brussels (dpa) – Greenpeace activists climbed buildings and cranes near an EU summit Friday in a protest denouncing big energy companies for boosting the bloc‘s reliance on Russian gas and oil imports. Greenpeace said 35 activists unfurled banners from their perches despite tight security measures in place for the summit. The banners pictured a car driving over a cliff with wheels bearing the logos of French energy giant EDF, Dutch-based Shell and German companies E.ON and RWE. Several activists could be seen hanging from a crane overlooking the summit venue.
