You’ve been putting the pressure on Congress to extend the policies that will help us advance wind power, and I’m glad to report that you are being heard.
We’ve seen three important indicators of progress in the past few days:
- Your Member of Congress has signed the letter in support of the tax credit extensions, as you asked – Over 30 Representatives, including yours, have signed on so far, and others have been taking alternative steps to move the ball forward,
- A House bill was introduced to extend clean energy tax incentives for two years – Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR-03) introduced a bill this week, along with 18 cosponsors, that seeks to extend the renewable energy production tax credit (PTC) and investment tax credit (ITC) for two years, mirroring the proposal in the tax bill approved by the Senate Finance Committee this past summer, and
- Conversations are under way between the House and Senate – A crucial step forward on the path to getting the job done, we’re hearing that House and Senate staff and officials are discussing how to move forward with the tax provisions that are due for an extension.
Congress will be in recess next week for the Thanksgiving holiday, but please stay tuned – we expect that things could move quickly after that. We’ll let you know when it’s time to weigh in again.
In the meantime, can you help us make sure that we have as many people as possible standing with us?
Please ask your friends and family members to sign our petition in support of the common-sense energy policies that will advance American wind power:
