SHELL INSATIABLE GREED
Duterte asked if he’ll ‘punish’ PNoy. Here’s what he said
Should President Benigno Aquino III start counting his days if “The Punisher” Davao City Rodrigo Duterte becomes the next Chief Executive?
Not necessarily.
According to the cuss-hurling mayor, he would leave it to the proper agency to determine whether or not Aquino or any of his Cabinet secretaries should be punished for their past deeds.
“Let the law takes its own course, there are laws that should be followed. If there is violation, let the proper body, say the Ombudsman, act on it,” Duterte told reporters in Davao City.
A stickler for rules, Duterte is known for his hardline stance against criminality. The 70-year-old politiko has earned nicknames lilke The Punisher and “Berdugo (Executioner)” in the past because of this reputation.
A huge part of Duterte’s draw as a presidential candidate is the belief that he would impose an iron fist against all types of offenders if he wins in 2016.
Some say that the Aquino administration erred big time when it institutionalized the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), a savings-impounding mechanism that allegedly turned the impounded money into the President’s own ‘pork barrel’. (Samantha A. Giron)
