Gosh knows how much rain we have been getting.................Driving in the rain --this may save your life
GOOD VISION IN A DOWNPOUR
How to achieve good vision whiledriving during a heavy downpour.
We are not sure why it is so effective;just try this method when it rainsheavily. This method was given meby a Police friend who hadexperienced and confirmed it.It is useful....even driving at night. One method used by Canadian MilitaryDrivers for years.
Most of the motorists would turnon HIGH or FASTEST SPEED ofthe wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibility in front of thewindshield is still bad......
In the event you face such a situation, just try your SUN GLASSES(any model will do), and miracle! All of a sudden, your visibility infront of your windshield is perfectlyclear, as if there is no rain.
Make sure you always have apair of SUN GLASSES in your car,as you are not only helping yourselfto drive safely with good vision, but also might save your friend'slife by giving him this idea..
Try it yourself and share it withyour friends! Amazing, you stillsee the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling.
You can see where the rainbounces off the road. It worksto eliminate the "blindness" frompassing semi's spraying you too.
Or the "kickup" if you are followinga semi or car in the rain. They oughtto teach that little tip in driver'straining. It really does work..
And for a similar reason, why"Fog" lights must make WHITE light,or else are useless in FOG.Those YELLOW "FOG"lights aregreat in those blinding nightSNOWstorms, and those bigsnowflakes become virtually invisible.
But YELLOW is uselessin RAIN, FOG.
This next warning is a anothergood one! I wonder how manypeople know about this:
A 36 year old female had anaccident several weeks agoand totaled her car.. A residentof Kinburn, Ontario was travelingbetween Kinburn & Ottawa. It wasraining, though not excessively, whenher car suddenly began tohydro-plane and literally flewthrough the air.. She was notseriously injured but verystunned at the sudden occurrence!
When she explained to theOPP Officer what had happenedhe told her something that everydriver should know -NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITHYOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON .She thought she was beingcautious by setting the cruisecontrol and maintaining a safeconsistent speed in the rain. But the Officer told her that ifthe cruise control is on whenyour car begins to hydro-planeand your tires lose contact withthe pavement, your car will
accelerate to a higher rate ofspeed making you take off likean airplane. She told the OPPOfficer that was exactly whathad occurred.
The Officer said this warningshould be listed, on the driver'sseat Sun-visor - NEVER USETHECRUISE CONTROL WHEN THEPAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY,along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set thecruise control and drive a safespeed - but we don't tell them touse the cruise control onlywhen the pavement is dry.
The only person the accidentvictim found, who knew this(besides the officer), was a manwho had a similar accident, totaled his car and sustainedsevere injuries.
NOTE: Some vehicles (like theToyota Sienna Limited XLE) willnot allow you to set the cruisecontrol when the windshieldwipers are on. If you send thisto 15 people and only one ofthem doesn't know about this, then it was all worth it.. Youmight have saved a life.
