I hate cramming a bunch of stuff into one email, especially since I know each and every one of us is a busy bee, but every part of this email is important when it comes to our children’s future, and the future of the planet, so please read on…

As things heat to a fevered pitch in the imminent Fast Track vote wrangling, we must keep our collective cool and do two things:Call Congress and Call Congress again.  1-855-980-2256, and ask at least 5 of your family, friends and colleagues to do the same.

Right now, the Republican leadership along with the administration are busy making bogus promises that used to be called earmarking (scandalous practice of offering representatives special interest financing for their districts) along with bait-and switch tricks with the rules votes associated with certain measures accompanying the Fast Track bill, attempting to make offshoring jobs and killing wages look more appealing. 

The message to our reps who are considering becoming Free Traitors by voting “YES” on Fast Track and Trade Adjustment Assistance?  “We won’t forget!”

The absolute most important thing you can do today, and every day is to call your congressperson and courteously tell them their future positions as your representatives will be in peril if they don’t vote NO on Fast Track and the Trade Adjustment Assistance bill (TAA) which is simply meant to grease the skids of fast track. 

Republicans are planning to use the vote for TAA that slashes Medicare against Democrats in 2016, essentially calling them two-faced, and my feeling about this is that I tend to agree.   So tell your Democratic Reps to “stand tall and vote NO for both Fast Track and NO for Trade Adjustment Assistance or TAA.”

Your Representative, Scott Peters, is leaning towards voting for the TPP. This vote will be very close -- can you call Rep. Peters and tell him to vote no on fast tracking the TPP?

We just got word that your Representative, Scott Peters, might side with the fossil fuel industry by voting to fast track the Trans-Pacific Partnership -- a massive trade deal that would threaten our climate, workers' rights, and internet freedom. As if this wasn't enough, yesterday climate deniers in the house added language to the bill that makes it even worse! It's a handout to fossil fuel companies that forbids U.S. negotiators from ever addressing climate change in a trade deal. This new language might win over a couple of votes on the far right, but we hope it'll lose many more in the center and on the left who take climate change seriously.

The vote on the TPP is expected to happen tomorrow, and it will be decided by a razor-thin margin. Rep. Peters's vote could help decide whether the TPP moves forward, or dies in Congress. Can you call him to say that you expect him to vote NO on fast tracking the TPP?

Representatives who are on the fence about major legislation like this often use feedback from their constituents to make a final decision. Rep. Peters is under immense pressure from corporate lobbyists to give in on fast track, so it's up to us to push right back.

The TPP would allow multinational fossil fuel corporations to sue governments that take action on climate change. Instead of keeping fossil fuels in the ground, it would make it easier to dig them up.

KICK BIG POLLUTERS OUT OF CLIMATE POLICY

Sign the petition to the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change:

"We call on you to take immediate action to protect COP21 and all future negotiations from the influence of big polluters. Given the fossil fuel industry’s years of interference intended to block progress, push false solutions, and continue the disastrous status quo, the time has come to stop treating big polluters as legitimate “stakeholders” and to remove them from climate policymaking."

Today, we are facing the prospect of the destruction of life as we know it and irreversible damage to our planet due to climate change. Scientists are telling us with ever more urgency that we must act quickly to stop extracting fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But the world’s largest polluters have prevented progress on bold climate action for far too long.

We call on the Parties to the UNFCCC to protect the UN climate talks and climate policymaking around the world from the influence of big polluters. The world is looking to the next round of negotiations – in Paris this December – for decisive action on climate. This is a pivotal moment to create real solutions. We need a strong outcome from the Paris talks in order to seize the momentum of a growing global movement, and to urge leaders to take bolder action to address the climate crisis.

But the fossil fuel industry and other transnational corporations that have a vested interest in stopping progress continue to delay, weaken, and block climate policy at every level. From the World Coal Association hosting a summit on "clean coal" around COP19 to Shell aggressively lobbying in the European Union for weak renewable energy goals while promoting gas – these big polluters are peddling false solutions to protect their profits while driving the climate crisis closer to the brink.

A decade ago, the international community took on another behemoth industry – Big Tobacco – and created a precedent-setting treaty mechanism that removed the tobacco industry from public health policy. This can happen again here.

Corporate Accountability International will deliver this message and the list of signatures at the climate talks in Bonn, Germany, the first week of June. We will do another delivery by the end of COP21 in Paris this December.

Oppose the TPP and protect American jobs and standards.

There's no sugarcoating this: The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will offshore American jobs and hurt environmental protections.
We need to stop this deal. And we're running out of time.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership was created by corporate interests behind closed doors. Americans can't even read the deal.
But the House is about to vote on a bill that would give away Congress' oversight authority.

The history is clear. Every time we fast-track a trade bill, Americans lose. The North American Free Trade Agreement was supposed to be a job creator in the 1990s. But we've lost nearly 700,000 jobs as a result, 86,000 of them in California.
